Kindermusik is the German word for "Children's music." The primary purpose of the Kindermusik program is to open the doors for enjoyment of music. Through Kindermusik, children experience many facets of music. Most children are ready, able, and eager to make vocal sounds, to move, to listen, to play simple instruments and be creative in all of these areas and more. The nurturing and refinement of these skills form the core of the Kindermusik curriculum. Kindermusik provides a rich assortment of musical activities designed to promote language development, symbolic thinking, coordination, and social interactions, while cultivating the child's imagination. In addition, when students complete the program sequence, they have all the necessary prerequisites for successful instrumental or vocal study.
The program is unique because it focuses on the total development of the child. Kindermusik is process oriented, not performance oriented. The activities are designed to make learning fun and are non-competitive. The Kindermusik program provides many opportunities to keep wonder, spontaneity and enjoyment alive and healthy in every child.
